The Massive List of Currently Airing, Returning, and Upcoming Sci Fi & Fantasy TV Shows – Spring 2017 Edition

Peak TV has yet to slow down and we are at 103 airing, returning, and upcoming sci fi & fantasy shows on the most current version of this list. This includes the upcoming shows that are (mostly) locked in through the end of 2017, and I know that there are presently at least a dozen more at various stages of development that could hit the the schedule this year as well. Plus, the broadcast networks will announce their new Fall shows at the Upfronts in May, so this list could grow to the 110 to 120 range by the time the next edition comes out in early June (balancing in the cancellations that are also sure to come at the end of the current season). That’s a whole lot of sci fi TV shows across the broadcast nets, cable channels, and streaming services!

This list will help you keep track of what’s on, what’s returning, and what’s coming up based on the information available so far. I give a brief description for each of the shows below, and this can act as your checklist to decide which ones to keep up with. I have discontinued the comments on the renewal / cancellation status of the shows because it has just become too difficult to keep up with everything and it’s getting harder and harder to make predictions on the cable and streaming shows because the Nielsens have less of an influence on those. But you can go to the Cancellation Watch Page over at CancelledSciFi.com to see a quick rundown of where all the shows stand and click through to the show pages there for more info.

The cancelled/ending shows that dropped off from the last list are Aftermath (cancelled by Syfy after one season), Incorporated (cancelled by Syfy after one season), Salem (cancelled by WGN after three seasons), Time After Time (cancelled by NBC in its first season), Grimm (ended after six seasons on NBC), and Vampire Diaries (ended after eight seasons on The CW).

You can click on the links below to the show pages on this site to get more information as well as view the trailers and recent status updates (where available) and you can also rate the shows.  You can see the Spring schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows at this link.  You can follow what’s on each week with our Sci Fi TV Listings and be sure to follow us on Twitter (@SciFiTVSite) for the latest sci fi TV news and daily reminders of what is airing.  Also be sure to follow the renewal / cancellation status of all these shows at CancelledSciFi.com and keep up with my regular column This Week in Sci Fi TV at this location for the latest breaking news and updates.

So go through this list and start checking off what you want to watch and get the dates (where available) on your calendar. Because there is a ton of sci fi and fantasy airing at the moment, and it is becoming a monumental task to keep track of it all!
