Sci Fi TV Listings for the Week of December 25th: Doctor Who Xmas Special, Travelers S2 Debut, Black Mirror S4 Debut, and More

By | December 24, 2017

Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.

We have arrived at the last week of the year when typically there is not much in the way of new sci fi and fantasy television to watch. But this is the Peak TV era, and there is always something new on the tube these days. On Monday night, we get the Doctor Who Christmas special which will deliver Peter Capaldi’s last appearance as the Doctor. Also this week, Travelers will return to Netflix for its second season on Tuesday (which has already started up in Canada on Showcase), and Black Mirror returns for its fourth season with six new episodes available for streaming on Friday. Other shows that will have new episodes next week will be Runaways (Hulu), The Librarians (TNT), Happy! (Syfy), and the Syfy Thursday shows.  And of course this week brings the usual holiday marathons.  Below are the ones that we know of so far and feel free to point out any we missed in the comments section.  And Mid-Season starts up next week already with several shows resuming their seasons and a new one having its premiere (Devilman Crybaby on Netflix).  You can see the full Mid-Season schedule at this link.

Marathons of Note:
Into the Badlands Seasons 1 and 2 will air on Wednesday
Fear the Walking Dead Seasons 1 through 3 will air Thursday through Saturday

BBC America:
A Doctor Who marathon continues from last week with eps running all day on Christmas leading up to the Xmas special and then continuing through early Wednesday morning
Star Trek TOS, TNG, and Voyager eps will start on Thursday and run through the end of the week

The annual Twilight Zone marathon begins on Sunday morning and continues through early Tuesday morning next week
