The Fall season will be mostly wrapping up in December, but there are a few shows that still have late-year premieres in the month. Also, most of the Fall shows that have been airing will have either their season or mid-season finales. Below is the rundown of the premieres, returns, and finales for the month and you can keep up with the weekly listings at this link. Friday, December 1st
Agents of SHIELD (ABC 8 PM EST): The SHIELD agents are back for their fifth season and they will be heading into outer space! The series kicks off with a two-hour season premiere and then continues in the 9 PM hour through the rest of December. You can see the first seventeen minuted of the premiere below.
Dark (Netflix): This German-made paranormal series kicks off its first season on Friday with all ten episodes available for streaming. Here is the official logline for the show: “A missing child sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers. Their search for a culprit unearths a small town’s sins and secrets.”
Wednesday, December 6th
Happy! (Syfy, 10 PM EST): Get happy because Grant Morrison’s quirky crime drama comic will show up in December on Syfy as a TV series. Here is the logline: “The series follows Nick Sax–an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man–who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy.”
Wednesday, December 13th
The Librarians (TNT, 8 PM EST): The Librarians are back for their fourth season and move to a new night. Noah Wyle will be returning as Flynn Carsen for seven of this season’s twelve episodes.
Friday, December 22nd
Bright (Netflix): Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, and Noomi Rapace star in this urban fantasy Netflix original film. Here is the logline for the movie: “In an LA rife with interspecies tensions, a human cop and his orc partner stumble on a powerful object and become embroiled in a prophesied turf war.”
Monday, December 25th
Doctor Who Christmas Special (BBC America, 9 PM EST) – Peter Capaldi still has one more episode as the Doctor and it will air on Christmas Day. Here is the official synopsis:
Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story.
Friday, December 29th
Black Mirror (Netflix): The acclaimed anthology series that uncovers the terror in technology is back for its fourth season with six new episodes. Below is the trailer for the upcoming season and you can see episode specific trailers, including the show’s own Star Trek-like episode, at this link.

Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (Netflix): The Godzilla anime movie–which already hit the theaters in Japan–arrives in the States via Netflix. Here is the logline for the film: “Godzilla creates havoc in this epic new anime set in a future where the world of the legendary monsterhas changed beyond imagining.”
